YouKits FG-01 antenna Analyzer review

First up the box came packed with a few small boxes and as Vampyre once said "we like stuff"
First impression "it's bloody small"

I purchased the rechargeable battery pack so I dont have to go looking for batteries every time I want to use it. The battery pack came with double sided tape so it can be stuck inside the cover. For the sticky noses out there this is what it looks like inside simple and seems neat and clean.

No instruction manual so i just turned it on and started fiddling have since realised the manual is downloadable from youkits site http://FG01.pdf but this little toy

Video intro to receiving HF with Software Defined Radio

Hi folks,
I'd like to share this video I recently put together that demonstrates how one can use Software Defined Radio to receive HF. I analyse a number of interesting/unusual signals (e.g. STANAG, DRM, OTH RADAR) by putting them through various pieces of software (e.g. HDSDR, GNU Radio, Sigmira).

If you have any thoughts on the mystery signals I mention, please comment! (Some have already been revealed on the YouTube page...)
Hope you find it interesting!
Homemade Loop antenna

hi guys, just another little project here, a HF loop antenna from 14mhz to 30mhz.
A good friend of mine Phil VK4IIO (ex G4IIO) built up a HF loop antenna to trial. He made it in his garage and the used a vacuum capacitor for tuning, it has a bandwidth of 20kHz and does the sucker perform.
He has a 20m Quad antenna up 30ft and the loop was only about 4ft off the ground, and on 20m the signal strength was only 2 S points in favor of the quad.
After seeing that, and throwing the R-5000 and tuning it down to 11mHz, it still performed not to bad.

I decided to try it against my end fed dipole, which I mount using a 9m squid pole

Commscan's Antenna Rack

Are you sick and tired of tripping over your pile of mobile antennas?
Always trying to find the right one for the band you need to use?
Are they bent and twisted, much like their owner?
Well....straighten up and tidy that mess for less than $5!

It's just a piece of pine timber salvaged from one of the many construction sites around here and a $3.99 packet of screw eyes, along with a couple of cup hooks that I had lying around. Drilled, plugged

2012 Cancer Council Sh*tbox Rally - Team Flemlux

Hi Everyone!

I am writing to you for your help. We need sponsors and/or donations for our team, Team Flemlux, for the 2012 Cancer Council Sh*tbox Rally and we were wondering if you could spread the word.
All money that is raised goes towards a donation to the Cancer Council to help people that suffer from this terrible disease.

There would have been at least one time in your life you would have wanted to do something extraordinary, beat the odds, even though people around you have said "It's impossible, don't bother trying, it’s too hard”, only to prove them all wrong. I am going to do just that.

Those who knew my pa, Bruce Bennell, they would have known that
