AM/FM antenna on Elevated Feed base

    Gday all,
I am looking at putting 2 matching antennas on my Dads Patrol. One AM/FM, One UHF CB.

My question is, will an AM/FM 1m fiberglass antenna work on an elevated feed base?
Will it lose efficiency, or will it work OK?

I just dont want to go out and buy 2 elevated feed bases, just to find out it doesn't work.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mathew

There are AM/FM antennas designed to work on non metal or non earth installations (several marine antennas are built this way).

I will say that generic AM/FM antennas designed for a metal surface installation will not work well on an elevated feed and further that elevated feed mounts are generally designed to elevate the antenna at a specific frequency of operation so such a mount is NOT designed for use at AM or even FM freqrencies so even antennas designed to work without a ground plane are probably best not used on such a mount.
