    2018 vehicle install

Ahoy me hartiesapologies for long break in between drinks but mid last year I started a new pt job as a trolley jockey at woolies in Mount Gambier meaning there wasn’t much time to sit down and rest until now seeing as I have 3 days off before working Friday-Sunday...anyways late November last year my lil green car met an ‘erumm’ untimely retirement due to a massive tree branch ‘pretty much totaling it at the front beyond repair so after a headache of dealing with CGU followed by being given another car that had a rooted motor I ended up with the ‘loan car’

With another set of wheels I made a pre Christmas visit to my local communications specialists being Gambier Electronics with an eye on a 12/01/2018 installation date however this got pushed back another week to today 16/01/2018 by sheer luck the supervisor changed my roster times so I had today off so the time of 0830 was planned and went ahead as scheduled

4 hours later after about 2:00pm my car was reversed out of their workshop shed and reversed into a park space ready to drive off

    That's quite a decent install.

Knowing the local repeater is UHF 7, what sort of UHF antenna do you have and what range do you get out of it.

Unfortunately we haven't had a local repeater for well over a good 10 or so years Xplorer as the repeater 7/37 was run unlicensed as the owner didn't renew adding the amount of people who would occupy it on a Saturday night stirring the pot this caused its timer to timeout more than once although it was a good laugh sitting back and listening to garbage that was spewed out of their mouths but also had good points during summer where the torpo-ducting would allow me to talk as far as Warrnambool in the evening or early mornings

Installation wise the GX600 gets a pretty good range due to having a VHF 22 repeater located outside of Millicent that's off a standard issued white antenna as displayed, XRS Connect 330C UHF is running off an GME stock standard spring loaded antenna/base although the coax had to be replaced as the previous installer of said antenna which was on my previous car when i had a tx3100 in it did a really dodgy job with it by cutting/twisting it around for length extension without any soldering or heat sinking plastic around it to prevent signal bleed or loss of which even baffled the techies at Gambier Electronics who were kind enough to replace the coax so now the radio/antenna gets out a fair distance have even keyed in a UHF 1 repeater a couple of times on mornings before it turned into a hot day

I am liking the microphone holders. Can I please ask where you got them from? I really don't like putting holes in my dash so that would be a perfect solution.

    Thanks in Advance.
