Hi all.
Could be some more interesting Aviation monitoring and all thing that goes with a commercial airport coming up in Richmond NSW
THE Rudd Government is expected to pave the way for the Richmond air force base to be opened up to commercial airline traffic when it releases its long-awaited aviation white paper next month.
It will be interesting to see how this works I regularly fly into Newcastle ( Williamtown ) RAAF base now not only do you have all the normal problems with security that you have with any other large commercial airport but you also have all the extra security that goes with being on an Australian defence base, not to mention that they close the airport at the drop of a hat to suite them selves why because they can.
All be Richmond is no stranger to commercial air traffic that's where all Virgin Blue and A lot of Qantas and Jetstar Aircraft go there to be painted.
NSW could get over all it's problems with needing 2nd and 3rd airports as such if the Government just stood up to the whingers that buy homes next to the airport then complain about the noise.

IMO this will never happen.. Though it would be good for us Scanner nuts (not intended offensively). But it is only a temporary solution.. Why not hold off until they find this permanent location? But thats just my pretty much uneducated opinion
