TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DAMAGING WIND
For people in the Mallee, Wimmera, North Central, Western, Central and parts of the Northern Country Forecast Districts.
Issued at 3:34 pm Wednesday, 14 July 2010.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area
over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Horsham,
Warrnambool, Ballarat, Bendigo, Seymour, Maryborough, Geelong and Melbourne.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* secure any loose objects in the vicinity of your home.
* stay indoors if possible.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* if you are outside, avoid sheltering under trees
* listen to the radio for storm updates
* switch off your computer and electrical appliances
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:35 pm.
If severe thunderstorms develop in the Melbourne Area, a more detailed Severe
Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area.

CANCELLATION SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - MELBOURNE AREA
Issued at 7:00 pm Wednesday, 14 July 2010.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer affecting the Melbourne Area. The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but squally showers are expected to persist near the coast this evening. The situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary
