Extreme Fire Danger [75-99] is forecast for the following forecast district:
Mallee
Maximum temperatures around 39 degrees, relative humidity down to 10% and winds
averaging 45 km/h are expected. CFA and DSE advise that some fires will be
unpredictable, uncontrollable and fast moving.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system will develop south of Adelaide today with an associated trough entering western areas late afternoon and reaching central areas of the State by midnight.
Damaging winds averaging 60 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h are expected to develop early Tuesday morning for the Alpine Areas forecast district and parts of the Western, North Central, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts. In the southern districts, these winds should mainly affect elevated areas.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* People should not park or shelter under trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EDT Monday.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is over the Tasman Sea. A low pressure system is
developing south of Adelaide today with an associated trough entering western
Victoria later this afternoon and evening. The trough will clear Victoria early
Tuesday as the low slides away to the southeast.
Damaging winds averaging 50 km/h with peak gusts around 90 km/h are expected to
develop early Tuesday morning for the Western forecast district and parts of
the Alpine Areas, North Central, Wimmera, Central, West and South Gippsland,
East Gippsland and Northeast forecast districts.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- People should not park or shelter under trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
- For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
The next warning will be issued by 11:00 pm EDT Monday.

for DAMAGING WIND and LARGE HAILSTONES
For people in the
Alpine and parts of the
Northeast,
East Gippsland and
West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.
Issued at 3:33 pm Monday, 2 November 2009.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones
in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected
include Corryong, Bright, Dargo, Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and Omeo.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* secure any loose objects in the vicinity of your home.
* stay indoors if possible.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* if you are outside, avoid sheltering under trees
* listen to the radio for storm updates
* switch off your computer and electrical appliances
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:35 pm.

A low pressure system west of Tasmania will track rapidly southeastwards across
the southern Tasman Sea this afternoon and an associated trough will clear out
of eastern Victoria.
The severe weather warning for parts of the Alpine Areas, North Central,
Central and West and South Gippsland forecast districts has been cancelled.
Another dry and mostly sunny day. Winds
northeast to northwesterly averaging about 5
km/h, reaching 20 km/h at times, tending
southeast to southwesterly up to 30 km/h
around midday. Overnight temperatures falling
to around 16 with daytime temperatures
reaching 28 to 34.
